Brief Biography
Graduated from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (1986).
Developed computer games, won four gold medals for programming logical games at the Computer Olympiads (1989-91, London and Maastricht).
Published ten books on C programming (Dialog Publishers, 1988-91, in Russian).
During PhD research developed algorithms and software for physical map construction at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (1992-95, London, UK). PhD in molecular biology from the Institute of Genetics and Selection of Industrial Microorganisms (Moscow, 1995). Scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (Berlin, Germany, 1995-98).
From 1998 - group leader at GPC Biotech (Martinsried, Germany), from 2001 - Scientific Director, Bioinformatics.
From 2010: Professor, Department of Biology. Founding Director of the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology, Rutgers University, NJ.
